Most of the paintings I create are presented in a series. “Madame Butterfly’s And Her Red Panda” is one of six paintings. The series was inspired by a visit to the bug museum in Santa Fe. I was overwhelmed by the beauty and variety of insects and took many pictures to remember the experience. After studying the photos I decided to use several of the butterflies as head wear for the “Madame Butterfly’s”. Each painting is presented in the same format but the characters are involved in different activities. After the completion of each painting, I think that the series has come to an end. But something triggers a new idea for the Madame and a new work is underway.
