Sheryl Fletcher Coon - Faces of War
Watercolor painting by Sheryl Fletcher Coon from Palm Coast, FL.
Artist Statement: The reference is one our grandfather took in World War One. The almost monochromatic aspect of it's age reminded me of the movie Shindler's List. (The little girl with the red coat). So I decided to keep the colors closely monochromatic other than the one soldier to the far right's olive uniform. I painted their faces as if they were haunted, which is what I would imagine the case would be.
