L S Eldridge - Nature's Tools
Watercolor painting by LS Eldridge from Rogers, AR.
Artist Statement: These abandoned tools discovered in an old barn have both comforted and inspired me over the years. We are as old friends now and they have matured and blossomed in my imagination. While staying true to the original spirit of the "Measure" series, I recently began to use the tools to interpret the context and significance of many diverse subjects.
In this painting, Nature's Tools, I use as my backdrop a symbol of new beginnings - the common daisy. With the color wheel as my inspiration, I seek to address the balance between the natural world and mankind's influence on it. It is clear that we will need to apply every tool at our disposal to address the issues this impact creates.
