Yong Chen - My Father
Watercolor painting by Yong Chen of Quincy, MA.
Artist Statement: Family is always in the core of our lives. We were brought into this world, taught to stand up, to walk, to observe and understand the things around us. Then we learned to appreciate, and express our feelings with lines, shapes, and colors - we became artists. On a sunny day last year, I looked around, our children have been growing up. I looked at my father as his hair became grayer and thinner, the winkles on the face got deeper. I then took out this paper, paints, and brushes, and started this painting, in the way that I can best express my love and sincere thank you, for all the things my father had taught me.
