Artist Statement: Towing the Line was painted in transparent watercolor. The symmetrical composition, with its pull of both atmospheric and one-point perspective, provides the visual power. The bold, black and gritty color contrasts against the softness of the atmosphere while a few working figures accentuate the scale of the mighty USS Constitution.
