Artist Statement: I find capturing personality when painting watercolor portraits particularly challenging. In âSmoke Gets in Your Eyesâ I chose to provide an airy, atmospheric feel caused by this cowboyâs smoke which tells the viewer a lot about who this guy is and what he might be about. Smoke created by lifting wet passages of watercolor with tissue or paper towel.Â
