Artist Statement: ‘Red Freighters’ was one of those otherwise ordinary subjects where the right light transformed the scene. Watercolor is perfect for capturing moments like this. I made the decision to crop off part of the foreground ship, as what really grabbed me was the sunlight hitting the distant freighter.
