Artist Statement: This painting began as a personal challenge to effectively use my discomfort color (red) but evolved into an exploration of beginnings, both real and imagined, and the supports and barriers encountered.
I begin all my paintings without a distinct visual image, but through the process of play and exploration, I find an idea I wish to pursue. It is in the process of painting that I find my way.
