Dean Seagren - Grand Canyon Railroad
Watercolor painting by Dean Seagren.
Artist statement: I am a watercolor artist drawn to create as realistic an image as I can. Some of my paintings have been mistaken for photographs, which pleases me no end. I am inspired by different images I encounter in my travels as well as those closer to home. I always try to give every painting a three-dimensional feel so the viewer can experience some of what I felt when I was there.
I began making art many years ago with a film camera and a black-and-white photo lab. This provided a good foundation in composition, texture, and value scale. Transitioning to watercolor opened another world for me, the world of color. I've tried to use color in support of the overall painting rather than dominating it. I hope that you enjoy and are moved by the results.
